The contract for the delivery of a Boeing 737 MAX jet was signed on July 17, 2018 between Belavia and the American leasing company Air Lease Corporation.
After the conclusion of the contract with Boeing, the Belavia aviation unit was provided with a list of certified centers for staff training. Boeing instructors, who participated in and flew the Boeing 737 MAX 8 tests, trained the airline's pilots on certified simulators and conducted the exams to fly this type of aircraft.
In 2018 and 2019 flight crews were trained to operate the Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets. The training included the study of the operation of all aircraft systems.
From January to March 2019, at the training center of Boeing in Seattle, the airline's engineering and technical personnel underwent theoretical and practical training for the aircraft. 36 employees received theoretical and practical training 6 employees received engine starting training.
Also in June 2019, seven airline employees were trained in linear and basic aircraft engine maintenance at the CFM training center in Paris, France.
After Boeing received permission to return Boeing 737 MAX jets to commercial operation, Belavia staff underwent refreshment courses.
